We recently returned from the Specialty Advertising Association of California (SAAC) show in Long Beach. This is an industry regional show (affiliated with Promotional Products Association International, (PPAI), our national organization). It is a much smaller show than our annual event in Las Vegas, but still, two days of education and exhibits. The timing is good because suppliers are just starting to promote their holiday gifts for the fourth quarter. (We know our clients are already thinking about this as well as events in January 2017).
Importantly, we attended a keynote session jointly presented by Paul Bellantone CAE, PPAI President & CEO and Tom Goos MAS, PPAI Board Chairman, providing us with industry trends and how to run a successful business in an "era of transformation" where the market place is driven by technology, demographics and globalization. Why are we telling you this? Well, this information helps us help you, our client, by identifying how we can add value to your promotional product buying experience and make your life easier!
The day before we attended an educational session presented by Kirby Hasseman about Building Your Business on Purpose. We learned valuable information and the importance of implementation. Kirby ended with a personal story of kindness which really touched our hearts.
Why should this be of interest to you? I mention it because the following morning as my business partner and I were getting coffee and a pastry prior to the keynote address, Paul Bellantone (mentioned above) stood in line behind us. I said "Good Morning, Paul. Are you ready for your presentation this morning?" He replied "I think so" and then as he placed his order he said to the server "you know what, I'm going to pick up their order". Taken aback I said "thank you Paul" and his response was "thank you - thank you for coming out early and supporting these guys" (our regional association).
We won't forget that act of kindness and you can be sure we'll take that example and implement it in our own business.
"Kindness is a language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see" (Mark Twain).
Be kind to someone every day!
